Oliten Manifesto

The existence of social media platforms goes beyond being mere technological companies. These platforms provide spaces for individuals, both independently and collectively, to express their opinions and ideas, whether driven by an agenda or lacking one. Whoever controls these platforms wields significant power—tools that can influence people’s minds, intentionally or organically. It doesn't matter whose hands these tools are in; what matters is that such power should not rest in the hands of a few, let alone a single individual. Oliten strives to create a social media platform that people can truly connect with and feel ownership of. If it fails to compete with established platforms, at the very least, it will prove that we always have a better alternative—that we remain the masters of our own destiny.

Oliten's Multi-Modal Platform

Oliten’s platform is multi-modal, meaning it can accommodate various social app models. The simple design allows users to switch between different modes by swiping left or right. For instance, users can experience models akin to Twitter, TikTok, and others, with the ability to toggle between a minimum of one and a maximum of five modes. We provide control to add, remove, and rearrange these mini-apps.

Oliten Governance

Oliten Governance is designed to fulfill its mission of empowering the people. Unlike traditional companies that dictate everything—from system operations to how the platform is used—Oliten is different. There are two parts to Oliten: the company and the organization. The company handles the daily operations of maintaining, improving, and innovating services, while the organization governs the users and their actions.

The organization is divided into five branches: Executive, Judicial, Congressional, Imperium, and Volitan. With the exception of Imperium and Volitan, the structure is based on the U.S. federal governance model. Because the organization operates independently from the company, Volitan represents the company and is selected by it. Imperium, on the other hand, will feature female leadership at every top position, with a single Empress and a queen for each country. The Empress is chosen by the newly elected queens, and once a queen is selected, her country must vote for a new queen within a week. Each country will have its own version of the organization, with a user threshold required for participation. The centralized leadership will be based in the USA, but other countries can also establish leadership roles, such as Imperium.

The Company

The company is responsible for collecting funds. At no point should its profit margin exceed 50%. Any attempt to do so will be considered greed and a betrayal of Oliten’s mission. Once all operational expenses are covered, the remaining profit will be divided three ways: 45% for the company, 45% for the organization, and 10% for charities, selected by the president, the head of the Executive branch. The list of approved charities will be drawn from 25 nominees chosen by the Congressional branch.

Ownership

Here’s the key—no one owns Oliten. The company owns 0%. To prevent any individual or entity from buying or selling shares in Oliten, the ownership is controlled by the organization. For legal purposes, any attempt to sell shares is unlawful, and any transaction must be approved by all citizens of Oliten.

Users

Users are divided into three categories: Visitors, Residents, and Citizens. Each level provides increasing privileges. Residents enjoy all the privileges of Citizens, except voting rights, which are exclusive to Citizens. Visitors must wait one year to become Residents and an additional two years to become Citizens.

Funding

Since the concept of shares does not exist in Oliten, we will raise funds through grants, loans, and donations. Once we reach profitability, this fundraising effort will cease. The next major step is when we hit our first million users, at which point we will expedite some users’ transition to Citizenship, bypassing the typical time constraints. This will be a one-time occurrence.

Why, How, Where, Whom

Oliten’s vision is rooted in the belief that social media should be shaped by the people, not controlled by a select few. We are building a platform where everyone has a voice, a stake, and a say in how things are done. This is the future of social media: decentralized, user-driven, and just.
